The False Prince

Breathtaking is the word that best describes this first book of a trilogy by author Jennifer A. Nielsen. Those who love the story of treachery and deceit dashed with perilous exploits and action, The False Prince will surely satiate their literary appetite from beginning to end.
Skillfully written with the backdrop of a discontent kingdom amid the brewing civil war, The False Prince tells a powerful tale of one nobleman’s quest for people’s concord that led to his clever, but precarious move to bring into play an ordinary young boy as a puppet prince. The fates of four orphans will be determined by their cunning, alacrity and power to perfectly enact the role. And in this matter of life and death, one defiant boy named Sage will be forced to try his luck to outlast the others. But will he make an impeccable prince out of his unpretentious existence? And if he would, will he be able to make it alive through the death-defying mission?
Nielsen’s literary prowess obviously finds a perfect haven in this genre. She masterfully gives life to her infinite imagination and creates an amazing spectacle that will leave you in satisfied awe. You will be enchanted by her terrific cast of characters that though not many, are well-developed. the way she outlines her setting is interesting and at the same time captivating—it will take you to distinct environs before you arrive at a complex and magnificent kingdom. The way she develops her storyline is exhilarating for it keeps a pace that will allow you to breathe only once in a while, and when you are hooked, you will never realize you have unfolded its surprising conclusion.
Overall, The False Prince is an absolute entertainment. And for me, this book is one of the best literary pieces that I esteem. I salute to Jennifer A. Nielsen for such a wonderful masterpiece!

The King of Attolia

They celebrated, with wine and music and dancing, a day they thought would never come. The queen’s wedding day. She sat at the window, watching the lights, listening for the music, waiting for her husband. Who could have thought that a thief who lost a hand can still steal some things more valuable than a ring or a medallion? Eugenides may have compensated his thievery with his right hand to the Queen of Attolia, but he will still prove to himself and to the kingdoms that he is a true thief. This time he is not stealing a relic—but a queen’s heart and a kingdom. The queen will yield the sovereignty of her country to Eugenides, who has given up everything he has ever hoped for, to be her king. It is quite unbelievable that he would marry the woman who cut his right hand, yet perhaps such is the work of fate—and love. As he begins to embrace his new life as husband to the queen and the new King of Attolia, Eugenides will make friends and enemies—and receives nothing more honorabl...

The Hunger Games

Packed with interesting and absolutely amazing cast of characters, thought-provoking plot and mind-blowing scenes, this is one of the almost-can’t-put-it-down books that I have read so far… When the book was released, book enthusiasts were very excited. My friends were talking about it, and I was like wondering what the fuss to make this book big news. When my friend unselfishly shared her copy of the book, I became interested to discover the answers to my own questions. The rest was history. I didn’t care about the controversial issues on the concept of the story; I just loved everything about this book. For me, The Hunger Games is heartbreaking, Machiavellian and inspiring all at once.  I was captivated at how Collins depicted the essence of a typical family whose members struggle to keep the bond that holds them together through the Everdeens. I admired Katniss’ love for her family that she was willing to sacrifice her life for her sister, and changed her mother’s outlook ...

The Thief

“I had wanted everyone to know that I was the finest thief since mortal men were made, and I must have come close to accomplishing the goal. Huge crowds had gathered for my trial. Most of the guards in the prison had turned out to see me after my arrest, and I was endlessly chained to my bed when other prisoners were sometimes allowed the freedom and sunshine of the prison’s courtyard.” True to its deserved outstanding literary distinction,  The Thief  exemplifies the elements of a real winner. With this book, my fascination for young adult fiction fantasy is reassured and further rounded up, especially when I began to travel with Eugenides or “Gen”, the queen’s thief. He can steal everything, except himself out of the king’s prison. Young, clever and distinctively fast, this spirited character is capable of capturing the hearts and imaginations of the readers by drawing the story to the gates of exciting quests packed with adventure, mystery, enchantment, and nerve-r...
